There ain’t no party like a #HEYblogger party!

You may have seen my blog post in August regarding a blogger’s networking meeting. This was the first time I met the HEY bloggers team! Since then, I’ve kept in touch with them on social media and was psyched when I was invited to the Christmas party! If you want to find out what we got up to, read on!

The Venue

The venue was the recently opened Lexington bar, found on the rooftop area of the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Hull. The room was separated by a 1940’s fringe style curtain which felt very elegant.

The Lexington felt very exclusive and like it was an intimate venue. The cocktail menu was something else! As designated driver, Lizzie and I indulged in mocktails which were lovely and the mixologists took just as much time over our alcohol free versions as they would with alcohol laden ones. I will certainly be revisiting for a proper cocktail very soon.

The HEY Bloggers team had decorated the venue in keeping with the elegant feel whilst making it fit the HEY Bloggers colour scheme!

It felt like a real celebration of the progress the girls have clearly made in building this blogging community in Hull and East Yorkshire, since the last meet in August! What I will say is that lots of people let the girls down with their non-attendance but they totally took it in their stride whereas I would have lost my shit because I’m just like that!

The Entertainment

The afternoon began with a bit of time to mingle and network, then in true HEY bloggers style we were brought together for an ice breaker game.

This was provided and initiated by the fantastic Socialise and Mingle! It was a card game with 4 categories – socialise, mingle, disclosure and consequence. Each player would choose a card to pick up and complete the actions in order to earn points. This is where Lizzie (Lizzie’s Blog Here!) and I met Ed AKA The Handsome Blogger on Insta!

A few of the teams, ours included got confused about the rules the organisers picked a team at random to win one of their goodie bags and it was our team!

The Prizes/Giveaways/Competitions

So the girls worked incredibly hard to contact and pitch to brands to support the event and donate items for prizes/raffle/attendee goody bags etc and there was such an excellent range of items we received in the goody bags.

I personally won tickets to see a show at Bonus Arena, Hull and tickets to the Deep Subquarium! Luxe by Hugh Rice were incredibly generous and provided a necklace for each attendee and it is gorgeous!

I also won a competition for the funniest insta board picture which I’ll insert below. I won a £10 Hugh Rice voucher which I put towards a Pandora charm!

Well done girls and thanks so much to all the brands because it helped to raise even more money for the HEY bloggers chosen charitable cause.

The Hosts

It has to be said, these girls are just so lovely and they really know their stuff about social media, blogging and photography. They are more than happy to share this knowledge and bring the local blogging community closer together! Massive congratulations to all of you 🙂

Highlights of the Event!

The proceeds of the raffle were donated to Oscar’s Chance, which is a local charity supporting a young boy with Cerebral Palsy I believe. This was such a worthy cause and I loved that the girls had chosen something so personal and close to home to donate to!

Another highlight was the AWESOME food which was provided by the Like Sugar Bakery – it looked so phenomenal that I really didn’t want to eat it!

Finally… Before the Event

Lizzie and I decided to meet to catch up and to also take some pictures we could use on our respective blogs and social media platforms – I’ll share some of these with you now!

We must have picked the most horrible day of the year to be outside because it was absolutely freezing! We really did battle the elements and a pigeon/seagull attack too and finally warmed ourselves up with a hot chocolate!

If you are a local blogger, I really urge you to look up HEY bloggers and come to some of their event 🙂 it has been so wonderful to meet other people who have a passion for writing in the same way I do.

You meet people who blog about completely different things but there is always something you can learn from them and I really enjoyed speaking to some lovely ladies yesterday who were stationary and literary bloggers!

Feel free to share your blog address in the comments and I’ll check it out!
